‘Town Hall, City Hall, and the old Brisbane Municipal Council’, by Denver Beanland
July 10 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm
The topic covers the Brisbane Municipal Council, which is older than the Colony of Queensland, with its years full of great controversy over the construction of the Town Hall and then later the City Hall. The topic covers both the Town Hall and City Hall. The City Hall when constructed was called ‘The Million Pound Town Hall’.
The book “Brisbane – Australia’s New World City: A history of the old Town Hall, City Hall, and the Brisbane City Council 1985 – 2103” covers this and more recent events. It provides for an analysis of the Council’s policies and the delivery of services and infrastructure that shaped Brisbane from 1985 to 2013.
Wednesday lunchtime talks are free, lunch afterwards $5.
