A page from the Pettigrew diaries
William Pettigrew (1825-1906) was a sawmiller, politician and diarist. Born near Ayr, Scotland, he emigrated to Australia in 1848, arriving in Moreton Bay in 1849. From 1849 to 1899 he kept diaries which provide a fascinating insight into life in colonial Queensland. The diaries are now in the care of the Royal Historical Society of Queensland – if you would like to view the originals or reproduce any images of the diaries, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This page is updated regularly as we continue to add the diaries to it.
